Business in Las Vegas

Freedom to Succeed

Nevada is an entrepreneurial haven for entrepreneurs, financiers and business executives. This is where business deals are struck, venture capital deals are developed and business networks are established.

Our embrace of limited government and personal freedom sets the stage for Nevada's vibrant business culture. Inexpensive land and affordable housing are powerful lures for recruiting and retaining top-notch employees. Nevada is a center of operations for firms in Aerospace & Defense, Clean Energy, Health Care, Information Technology, and Logistics & Operations. We set the global standard for innovation and operations in Tourism, Gaming & Entertainment; and Mining, Minerals & Manufacturing.

Our companies are among the most innovative. Our university system graduates top-notch engineers, mathematicians, scientists, doctors and lawyers. Our tax structure is one of the most attractive in the nation. We have no personal and corporate income tax, no unitary, inventory, franchise, estate or inheritance tax. Nevada provides abatements, deferrals and incentives for capital equipment purchases and grants for job training.

We are #1 among the 50 states for economic development programs in terms of job creation, retention, and training (Good Jobs First); #1 for production of non-fuel mineral commodities in 2010 (U.S. Geological Survey); #1 for LEED-certified buildings (U.S. Green Building Council); #1 for geothermal developments (Geothermal Energy Association); #1 in export intensity and export growth (U.S. Chamber of Commerce); #1 for new business launches (Kaufman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity); and #1 for export adaptability and growth (Ball State University).

Nevada offers a variety of diversions from world-class entertainment, shopping, golfing and restaurants to the 18 ski resorts and awe-inspiring boating of Lake Tahoe. There's the fishing, hiking and camping of Great Basin National Park, the rock climbing of Red Rock Canyon National Recreation Area and the snow-capped Ruby Mountains of Northeastern Nevada -- all beneath blue skies with more than 300 days of sunshine annually.

Hoover Dam is perhaps the state's best-known landmark, towering 720 feet above the Colorado River, forming the boaters' paradise of Lake Mead, a 35-minute drive from Las Vegas. From historic landmarks to cultural experiences to the finest resort spas, Nevada has something for everyone.

The state possesses big cities, small towns and rural communities. Our population is diverse. The opportunities are limitless in a state that has mountain biking, off-loading, hot springs, resort spas, scenic byways, lake cruises, backcountry hiking, hunting, ghost towns and museums.
